Chinese Family Like Services of Metropolitan Toronto

Chinese Family Life Services is an incorporated and charitable Chinese-Canadian community-based professional family service agency with a special focus on Chinese-Canadians. The Agency is mandated to provide the following programs for the community:

1. Counseling/therapy to individuals, couples and families with personal, marital, parenting, wife assault, sexual assault, family violence, inter-generation and other concerning issues with focus on enhancing psychological well being of individuals and families, developing problem solving skills and coping mechanism and promoting family harmony.

2. Violence against women program aimed at providing support services to victims of family violence focusing on safety and protection issue. It aims at empower women in their pursue of a safe and secure living environment, and to support them in making choices in achieving a more fulfilling life, and to enhance their self esteem and confidence.

3. Family life education program focusing on community based education by delivering workshops and activities stressing on parenting issue, marriage enrichment, and stress management. We also publish education resource materials in family life education and as well as outreach Chinese-Canadian community to promote healthy family environment.

4. Youth program aims at providing a recreational environment for youth to network and improve interpersonal relationship. The program encourages youth to undertake their own responsibility and develop the spirit of corporation.

5. Employee assistance program provides information, counseling and referral services for employees of local business and corporations who experience personal and work-related issues.

6. Internship and field practicum program offer learning opportunity for social work/psychology graduate students in their professional pursuit.

7. Consultation and liaison promotes and advocate community network, consultation and professional sharing of knowledge/skills with other human service providers.

8. Gambling and addictions program aims at providing various services for people who experience difficulties in the gambling and addiction behavior. This program also provides counseling services for their family members in order to develop support and coping skills in dealing with gamblers and addictions. Promoting general well being of individuals and families are focused in the program.
